<span>

           In this week's episode of From Mill to Still, our journey continues to unfold at a remarkable pace, especially after obtaining our building permit last week. We are pouring concrete for the first floor, bringing us one step closer to the heart of our operation – where our Rum will come to life!

          Now that the concrete has set, Robbie and Jake are eagerly envisioning themselves working within this newly created space. They're planning the layout for the stills, ensuring every detail is aligned to guarantee both functionality and perfection.

    <br/>
  </div>
  <div>

          Judy, Robbie's #mom , paid us a visit, offering invaluable insights and expertise. Judy’s designs have been featured in #southernliving #magazine and her wealth of knowledge brought an additional layer of refinement to our project, truly making it a family-driven endeavor!

Unique Inventions, Renovation Challenges, and Bitter Beginnings!

On this week's episode of From Mill to Still, the team embarks on a trip to the hardware store to secure more wood supplies. Meanwhile, Jake, our Head Distiller, perseveres in his seemingly never-ending quest to renovate the Mill's windows.

Robbie introduces Rafael to his unique creation known as the "frankenkeg." Curious about what the "frankenkeg" is? It's Robbie's one-of-a-kind invention designed for bottling bitters. But, before Robbie can bring this creation to life, he must scour the Distillery, searching high and low for the necessary pieces and parts.

Speaking of bitters, it's a memorable day as Jordan and Robbie eagerly unbox their very first bitter bottles. Join us as our Production Manager, Jordan, tirelessly crafts our Carolina Basil Rum to perfection. In the meantime, Rita, our Marketing Director, joins Robbie in brainstorming ideas for the new General Store at the Still. We're eager to hear your suggestions in the comments below!

Drilling a Well at Our New Distillery

In this week’s episode from Mill to Still, Robbie can hardly contain his excitement as he meets with Roger’s Well Team on a mission to locate water for the well. Along the way Robbie learns all sorts of incredible tricks but, the burning question remains: will their efforts lead to success or will it turn out to be just a mirage?

Rafael and Jake are still at it! Working hard to repair the windows, utilizing every salvageable piece available. However, Rafael takes it up a notch and shows us the process of crafting windows from scratch.

Innovation is undeniably in the air here at Muddy River! Jordan takes the lead in reviving an old SunDrop electrical box, breathing new life into it as part of our essential upgrade to control the stills.

Jordan and Robbie go on a barrel-picking adventure to get the ideal barrel for an upcoming client.

In this week’s episode from Mill to Still, Robbie learns the world of online auctions. Things quickly take an unexpected turn when he places a bid on the Hilti Saw. Arturo assures Robbie it's unlike anything he's ever seen at his local Home Depot.

Meanwhile, our Head Distiller, Jake, is also learning the art of window glazing as an apprentice. We get to know the man behind the beard and discover what brought him to the Muddy River Family.
We have begun to select floor tiles for the bar with the assistance of Designer Judy Delaney, whose designs have been featured in Southern Living Magazine. Please share your choice for the bar's tile in the comment section below!

And Drumroll, please! We may have just unveiled the most highly anticipated Sherwin-Williams color of the year for 2024. Introducing Cotton Mill Gray.

<div data-rss-type="text">

         Production crew bottle more rum! We introduce Rafael, our buddy, who is an aircraft mechanic AND a carpenter on the side. The team installs a door at the bottom of the stair tower and work on salvaging wood to repurpose within the bar. Robbie's hoarding pays off for the old textile machine!

         This week - carpentry! Robbie talks to the guys at the mill about their expertise in other trades and how they have transformed into successful framers and jacks-of-all-trades. We get a new glass delivery at the mill and check out the conference table that Rafael built for us. The guys at the distillery work hard bottling a ton of Silver rum and Queen Charlotte's Reserve as well as distilling a couple of times. Jake mixes up a batch of coconut rum and the guys figure out how to fit everything inside of the confined spaces left in our current location. Don't be dumb, drink Carolina Rum!

  <span>

          This week got off to a rough start with some bad workers. Thankfully things turn around quickly thanks to Randall, Peter, and the guys in the distillery. Randall pays real attention to detail as he makes some great headway painting and sealing the walls working his way down and through the building. It’s nice to seal some of these walls vs covering them back up. Peter (Robbie’s father-in-law) is taking restoration to a new level. Not only are we restoring this old building but also the equipment that was inside! Peter’s background in textiles fuels his passion to bring this 20th century knitting machine back to its former glory! We cap the week off with a new water filter installation at the current distillery. Cheers and stay tuned as we continue to restore Mill!

         What a great week for Muddy River Distillery. Arturo commutes 4 hours a day!? We are so lucky to have Arturo and the gang at the mill. The masons finish some plaster work and now we are learning how to #restore windows. Robbie has a boat? We take the Salty Cod up the Catawba and into Dutchman's Creek for some cool drone shots and exploration! Interviewing the local roofer on the jobsite was loads of fun and only slightly insulting. We get a visit from a family of Finnish people from Finland. Caroline is super prego and brings the kiddos to the distillery. While there, a group comes for a tour. Robbie and the guys discuss the new merch cabinet. So exciting to have a dedicated space for our bottle and Merchandise sales #generalstore. Jordan was slacking off #vacation #bossbabe so we had to bottle rum without him. Hope you make it to the end for the #squirrel situation. Cheers!

         It was an exciting week at the mill as we completed demolition and started on the finishing's. Plus we took a trip to the scrap yard to turn in all the old copper wiring from the building. Meanwhile back @muddyriverdistillery we spent some time with our production manager Jordan to learn about his path to Muddy River. Robbie and Arturo really enjoyed modifying the #makitapowertools circ saw to cut the dados on the new storefronts.

         Demo on the 3rd floor reveals so much rot damage, so the floors are gone! The damage is difficult, but we are excited to replace the flooring and make sure that everything is safe again for when we can soon have visitors. Also cleaning out a hidden room and finding lots of random bits we can hopefully repurpose.
